This is where it becomes ideal to boil mouthguards. It assures that your mouthpiece has the appropriate fit. Here is the procedure on how to boil mouthguard.
To commence on doing it, you need to obtain a medium sized pot. You have to add water in it and allow it to boil. Once the water is already boiling, you should then put your mouthguard in. The idea is just to make your mouthguard softer so ensure that the water is not too hot. If the water's temperature becomes too extreme, it will cause it to be less effective.
Also, make sure that when you boil mouthguard, the entire mouthpiece is submerged in water. After 15-30 seconds have passed, the following step is to take it out using thongs.
After you boil mouthguard, you have to let it cool down.
You can submerge it in cold water for a couple of seconds or so. You have to make certain that you do not totally allow it to cool down as it would make your mouthguard hard once more. Just allow it to cool down until its temperature becomes bearable. Don't endanger yourself for this one though.
The final step would be shaping your mouthguard into perfect shape.
